Color Speaks

Foundations/Fine Art

In this assignment, we were to focus on creating dynamic compositions that communicate the principles of design using color and abstract shape. I wanted to use a constant shape and for the most part color in my work to join all my pieces together in harmony to make it that much more pleasing to the eye. I focused on the use of red because I believe as a color, even in our culture, it carries many different meanings and it almost in a way, is often misunderstood as danger, when it could mean love, passion, etc. This idea is sent home using triangles which also depict different meanings from excitement, balance, risk, danger, etc. The two of these concepts helped me play off one another to represent the principals of design in a way I never understood before.
