The fourth year of our program is an intensive year of preparing students for professional practice. At this stage, students practice their skills more independently and individually. There is a focus on the business practice of Graphic Design and more advanced design research methods. There is flexibility in choosing electives that will prepare students for the area of the field in which they intend to work.
The highly conceptual, large-scale projects that students create in the final year, and the exposure to advanced design thinking and research methods, starts with client-based work in the first semester and culminates in an in-depth Senior Capstone project. The Capstone course centers on the development of a semester-long independent project where students focus on creating multi-component, content-driven projects that demonstrate their ability to completely identify, research, self-author and implement an in-depth design project.
At of this year, students prepare a final portfolio of work and begin their job search by applying and interviewing for professional positions in their area of interest. Our program graduates graphic designers with well-rounded, content-driven, aesthetically exceptional portfolios that will allow them to grow and evolve with their industry.
