La Roche College graphic design students recently learned what it takes to conceptualize, develop and design projects for a real-world client — all within a 60-hour time frame. From October 19th through October 21st, the La Roche Design Division hosted Immersions, our annual design challenge where graphic design students have two and a half days to be introduced to their client, break down a complex problem, create concepts, develop solutions and ultimately present their process and results to back to the client.
This year juniors and seniors developed design solutions for the Pennsylvania Resources Council. PRC is the oldest grass-roots environmental organization in Pennsylvania, working to help Eastern and Western PA residents to properly dispose of household chemicals, electronics, prescription drugs and other hazardous waste streams. Students were challenged with communicating important data about the effectiveness of PRC’s many initiatives and how they benefit a variety of audiences in a compelling and digestible manner.
Past clients have included Welcoming Pittsburgh, Attack Theatre, CORE (Center for Organ Recovery and Education), Global Links, Haiti H20, WPSBA and North Hills Community Outreach.
