La Roche College graphic design students recently embarked on a 60 hour design challenge, learning what it takes to conceptualize, develop and design projects for a real-world client. From October 24th through October 26th, the La Roche Design Division hosted Immersions, an annual design challenge where graphic design students have two and a half days to create concepts, develop solutions and pitch their projects to an outside client.
This year teams of juniors and seniors developed design solutions for the New Hazelett Theater’s Community Supported Art Program. The CSA is a non-profit residency program specifically developed to help local artists create and present their work as they learn important business and production strategies for future success. Students were challenged to design compelling branding material for the CSA that will help communicate its important mission to the local community, introduce the resident artists, and as well as continue to promote theater attendance and CSA membership from local and area residents.
Past clients have included Attack Theatre, CORE (Center for Organ Recovery and Education), Global Links, Haiti H20, WPSBA North Hills Community Outreach, Welcoming Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Resources Council, and Frankies Friends. CORE and Global Links produced the solutions. The Welcoming Pittsburgh team also plans on producing the solutions created for them.
