Thirteen high school students joined La Roche College design faculty this summer to learn about graphic design and interior design at the fourth annual GD/ID Summer Studio.
During the five-day program, the students took studio classes and went on field trips to two local Pittsburgh firms, MAYA Design, a design consultancy and technology research lab; and Inventionland, a new product incubator. Students were also placed on teams and challenged to research, design and construct a child’s toy.
The Summer GD/ID Studio wrapped up with a
special presentation night for family and friends that showcased student work and each team’s final concepts and finished toy.
Information about next year’s GD/ID Design Studio will be posted on designatlaroche.com later this fall.
